Six crystal flutes that hold the table steady before the first glass is poured — the kind of piece that makes an ordinary evening feel considered.

Thin-blown crystal with a delicate rim and a clean, elegant silhouette. At 20 cm, the flute sits well in the hand without weight. The form is simple and undecorated, which is exactly what lets the glass do its work. Each flute holds 100 cl and weighs approximately 50 g. A set of six vintage champagne flutes in matching condition — a rarity worth noting.

A Rogaska crystal champagne flute set, made in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s. The Rogaska glassworks, established in Slovenia, has produced hand-blown crystal to the standards of Central European glassmaking tradition for over three centuries.

• Hand wash only — crystal is sensitive to thermal shock
• Avoid abrasive cloths that may scratch the surface

• Do not place in the dishwasher — detergents will cloud and etch the crystal over time
