Una coppia di piatti in maiolica S.C.I. Laveno che portano un secolo di tradizione ceramica italiana, con discrezione, in una tavola contemporanea.

Gres a corpo spesso e pesante, liscio al tatto. La vetrina beige originale ha sviluppato nel tempo una fitta rete di crettature — una trama naturale che si forma nella maiolica con gli anni. La patina è velata e calda, tendente a un tono neutro. La variazione tra i due pezzi è intrinseca al materiale e all'età: nessuno è identico all'altro. Ogni piatto reca sul retro il timbro dell'aquila verde di S.C.I., a conferma di una produzione italiana dell'inizio del Novecento. Diametro 24,5 cm.

La Società Ceramica Italiana fu fondata a Laveno, sulla sponda occidentale del Lago Maggiore, nel 1856. I laboratori di Laveno divennero uno dei più importanti produttori ceramici d'Italia, rifornendo i mercati domestici e istituzionali tra la fine dell'Ottocento e l'inizio del Novecento. Il timbro dell'aquila verde — utilizzato dagli anni 1880 fino alla metà del Novecento — è uno dei marchi più riconoscibili della maiolica italiana. I pezzi di quest'epoca sono attivamente collezionati per la qualità del materiale e la patina che solo un secolo d'uso e conservazione può produrre.

• Lavare solo a mano — la vetrina invecchiata e la rete di crettature sono sensibili al calore e ai detergenti della lavastoviglie
• Evitare il ammollo prolungato, che può penetrare nelle crettature e macchiare il corpo
• Non utilizzare panni abrasivi o pagliette — danneggerebbero la patina
• Non adatto al microonde — l'età e la densità del corpo in maiolica rendono la distribuzione del calore irregolare
