A crescent-shaped rattan basket from 1970s Italy — the kind of piece that holds its own on a shelf, a console, or a kitchen counter without needing to explain itself.

Deep, dark-toned rattan with a close, even weave throughout. The crescent form gives it a distinct presence — wider at the centre, tapering naturally toward each end. The weave is tight and consistent, the surface carrying the warm, darkened patina that comes from age rather than finish. At 34 × 30 cm, large enough to hold fruit, dried botanicals, or simply nothing at all.

Italian rattan basketry of the 1960s and 1970s was shaped by a strong craft tradition centred in the Veneto and Tuscany regions, where weaving workshops supplied both domestic and export markets. These pieces were made to be used — their construction is functional, their form often quietly considered.
