Un piccolo vaso ovale in terracotta posato su uno scaffale della dispensa, un davanzale, un bordo del lavandino — presente senza mai imporsi.

Terracotta formata a mano in una forma ovale bassa. Un foro di drenaggio alla base lo rende pratico: cachepot, portaspugna, portasapone, o semplicemente un posto dove appoggiare qualche stelo. Le pareti sono non smaltate e la superficie somiglia più al cemento sabbiato che alla ceramica: opaca, granulosa, leggermente irregolare al tatto. Segni e abrasioni di decenni di utilizzo si sono depositati in una vera patina — nessuna scheggiatura, nessuna crepa. È wabi-sabi nel senso proprio: l'usura è il valore dell'oggetto, non una sua diminuzione. Con 24 × 14 × 7 cm, si posa basso e rimane discreto.

La terracotta italiana di questo periodo veniva prodotta in una rete di piccoli laboratori regionali — principalmente in Toscana, Umbria e nel Mezzogiorno — utilizzando argille locali e metodi di lavorazione a mano poco cambiati dal Rinascimento.
