Handwoven rattan in a deep, open form. Tall enough to stand a baguette upright or pile fruit without it rolling, wide enough to lay pastries flat. The weave is honest and structural, the kind that was made to be used daily and carried full. At 33 × 25 cm and 18 cm deep, a generous everyday size.

French rattan basketry runs through the country's domestic and market life, woven by hand for carrying, storing, and serving. Pieces like this date from the mid-century, when the woven basket was the working container of the kitchen and the market stall alike. Handmade, used, and still holding.
