Item Type: Pre-Loved
A tall French stoneware bottle — hexagonal at the base, built for the table or the cellar, equally at home now holding a single branch or standing as it is.
Salt-glazed stoneware with a hexagonal body that catches light along each facet. A bail closure — the hinged swing-top in wire and ceramic — seals the neck the way it always did. The glaze shows fine hairline marks across the surface, the patina of age rather than damage. 10 cm across the base, 29 cm tall.
France holds a long stoneware tradition, its regional potteries firing hard, glazing simply, and building vessels made to be refilled rather than replaced. Bottles like this were produced through the mid-century for cider, water, and spirits — the bail-stopper bottle was the refillable vessel of the regional table. It has kept its form and its closure intact.
