Laveno Antique | Italian Earthenware
Antique Italian earthenware from the Laveno manufactory on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. Serving dishes, dinner plates and bowls in heavy thick-walled stoneware, each finished in a beige glaze that a century has taken to a fine web of crazing.
Società Ceramica Italiana became one of Italy's principal producers of utilitarian earthenware, supplying households and restaurants across the country into the twentieth century. The undermark, introduced in 1883, dates these pieces to somewhere between 1900 and 1940. No two are marked alike — age has left each its own marbling.
Sourced pre-loved in Italy. Graded, cleaned and photographed as they are.
