A narrow, elongated rattan colander from 1960s Italy — a kitchen tool that still does its job as well as it always did, and looks considered doing it.

Woven rattan in a traditional open-weave pattern designed to drain and air. The elongated form — 27.5 cm long, 8 cm wide — is built for herbs, vegetables, or small kitchen tasks that a round colander handles less elegantly. Lightweight and balanced in the hand. No rust, no compromise — rattan throughout.

Italian rattan basketry of the 1960s encompassed a wide range of domestic kitchen tools, produced in workshops across the Veneto and Tuscany. These functional objects were made alongside decorative pieces and share the same even, close construction — utility and craft rarely separated at this scale of production.
