A cotton bedspread that dresses a bed with the kind of unhurried detail that takes years to find — floral jacquard weave, tassel-trimmed edges, and rounded corners cut to follow the bed rather than simply drape over it.

Woven in a classic Italian jacquard, the pattern is built into the cloth rather than printed on top of it. The tassels run the full perimeter of the edge — each one an extension of the weave, not a sewn-on addition. The rounded corner cut is a finishing detail almost never seen in modern production: it sits flush against the bed base without bunching at the foot.

Italian cotton bedlinen production reached its highest point in the 1970s, when mills in Piedmont and Lombardy were supplying domestic households and export markets with jacquard-woven pieces of exceptional weight and finish. This piece comes from that tradition — the density of the weave and the construction of the tassel trim are consistent with the mill output of that decade.
