Item Type: Pre-Loved
A vase from Bohemia's inter-war glass tradition — made when that region's workshops were producing some of the most considered decorative glass in Europe.
Cast glass in clear with the characteristic weight and internal texture of 1930s Bohemian production. The Art Deco period in Bohemia yielded a distinctive vocabulary of moulded forms — geometric, restrained, precise. This piece reads as part of that lineage: thick walls, structured surface detail, a form that catches light from multiple angles. Made in Bohemia, now Czech Republic.
Bohemian glassmaking has a continuous history stretching back to the 13th century. By the 1930s, workshops around Jablonec, Liberec, and the Krkonoše foothills were at the height of their international influence — exporting glass objects to Europe, the Americas, and beyond. The inter-war decades represent the apex of Bohemian Art Deco glass, produced in moulds of exceptional quality that gave even mass-market pieces a sculptural presence.
